Calais & Belguim Shopper  On   Fri 18th June 2010

Calais and Belgium Shopper

On the Calais and Belgium Shopper we first visit the town of Adinkerke in Belgium, just across the French border. You may be tempted to purchase, arguably, the finest chocolates Europe can offer. We then visit the Belgian street known colloquially as Tobacco Alley and Smokey River which, offer very competitive prices on tobacco products. Wines, beers and spirits are also available at a reasonable price. (Tobacco is cheaper in France and even cheaper in Belgium when compared with the UK. Recent price rises in France have made it worthwhile travelling to Adinkerke particularly for those who smoke rolling tobacco).

Bellamy's journey then takes you to Pidou's Wine and Beer Cash & Carry. Pidou's sell more than just wine, beer and spirits, you can also purchase items like crockery and brand-name washing detergents with amazingly big savings

Cité Europe is our next stop, boasting over 150 outlets including; 19 ladies fashion shops, 8 men's clothing outlets, 7 children's clothes shops, 18 unisex shops, 4 sport shops, 9 shoe shops, 10 home furnishing shops, 7 beauty salons and 18 gift shops including Toys R Us.

For those in search of the mouth-watering wonders of French food and wine, the huge hypermarket of Carrefour and Tesco Wine are on hand as well as Le Chais, Oddbins and a plethora of other outlets including confectionary and patisserie shops. You can taste wines, sample cheeses, stock up on patés, saucissons, fresh soups, delicious jams, mustards, sauces, mayonnaise, olive oil, delicious French bread and croissants - indeed, many of the gastronomic delights for which France is famous. For those in pursuit of leisure, the centre also has 21 restaurants and bars.

Just when you think you cannot shop anymore, we enter Eurotunnel for the return journey, you will have some time to visit the Euroshop this is only available to users of the Eurotunnel.  Here you will find everything ranging from wine, beer, spirits, tobacco, perfumes & gifts. (Each week there are promotions on certain items so, save a little and don't miss out on that bargain)
